Before you ever learn to hear God clearly, remember this: God hears you.

There are seasons when prayer feels eloquent, and seasons when it is little more than, “God, help me.”

He hears both.

He Heard Them

Exodus 2:23-25 tells us that when Israel was suffering in Egypt, they cried out. God heard their groaning and remembered His covenant to them.

I love the sequence in that story - God heard. God remembered. God saw. God sent Moses.

Their suffering was not invisible to Him.

Cry Out

Sometimes faith gets presented as though we should always know exactly what God is doing and remain perfectly composed while He does it.

But Scripture is full of people crying, questioning, pleading, waiting and calling on God.

Prayer does not have to be polished to be heard.

He Is Still God

Hebrews 13:8 reminds us that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.

The answer may not arrive in the form or timing we expected. Faith is not a guarantee that every circumstance will become easy.

It is trust that we are not speaking into an empty room.

So Speak

Tell Him what hurts. Tell Him what you are grateful for. Ask for wisdom. Ask for help. Sit quietly when you have run out of words.

You do not need to shout loudly enough to get God's attention.

He hears you.
