It's a breath of fresh air. It's a child's laughter. It's a babbling brook. It's warm baked cookies. It's birds singing. It's the warm sun on your face. It's a hug from an old friend. It's puppies playing. It's being present. It's letting go and letting God love you just because He does.
Our LOGO above is two crosses side-by-side. It was created to depict God next to you, walking by your side, holding your hand. When there is less of you, there is more of Him. He is the whole cross when yours is too much. When you are lacking, He fills your void. He completes you. You are never alone. Plus, the logo looks like the letter "H" for Heidi ;-)
Sicko
In February 2022 I became very sick. After 7 months of medical tests and ruling out everything from IBS to Lupus to cancer, I found out it was eColi that the doctors had missed at the beginning. My organs were barely hanging on with sepsis on the horizon. My body was a mess and so was my bathroom. TMI? Well, most people may not have survived. It attacked my heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, pancreas and intestines. Constant low grade fevers, extreme abdominal pain and dehydration plagued me for 7 months while doctors bounced me around.
Once I switched doctors in August 2022, the right tests were ran and a couple weeks of antibiotics did the trick. I could finally leave my bathroom and start recovering. Little did I know the worst was yet to come. As if my health wasn't the biggest issue, I was attacked on all fronts. My then-boyfriend sued me for my house then took my dogs and my Bentley. My rich friends turned their backs once I wasn't a member at their country clubs anymore. My job was annoyed with me, I was thousands of miles from my Midwest family, and I had to move all while on death's doorstep. It was only by faith in God and the healing power of natural remedies that I beat death. Eventually the lawsuit settled, I changed jobs, changed houses and totally reset my values and boundaries to start loving myself.
It was only recently that I was able to get off my meds, reduce my physical therapy, and beat the induced anorexia that plagued me the past 2 years. At my lowest, I weighed 100 lbs and at my best I was barely 110. My heart muscle, my body muscles and my intestines had all atrophied. I could not drive for many months - I had to rely on delivery services and my friends to take me to my almost daily medical appointments. I could barely walk up the stairs. My bone mass had totally deteriorated and my ligaments had shortened to the point of pulling so hard on my weak bones that my hip bones almost cracked.
I was peeing blood and my burned-out gut had no juices to break down food. Even if I could eat a steak, it wasn't coming out and wasn't staying down. I was starving from unwanted anorexia. I survived on chicken, broth and rice. I had been through 4 surgeries, daily physical therapy, breathing in hyperbaric chambers, weekly nutrient IV's, and tons of medical tests. I was alone, crying out to God in pain, in fear, in bitterness, in anger, and in my bed.
My friends had abandoned me, my millionaire boyfriend had cheated on me, my dogs had been taken from me, my forever home was gone and my attorney fees rivaled my medical bills. This was when I realized my lifestyle of lavish, worldly consumption was no good. I didn't need another Bentley, I didn't want more empty friends and I was done drinking red wine. I only wanted goodness. I had consumed what this world gave me and it was no good. I choose, on my bed of despair, to only consume goodness from here on out.
After a 180 degree re-alignment of my personal and spiritual values, I am happier today than I have ever been!! I am now married to the man of my dreams, laughing with real friends, and close with my daughter. I consume only goodness everyday. I immediately reject negative thoughts, I live a slower lifestyle in God's rest, and I do not care what people think of me. Even though I lost some cool "stuff" that's all it is - stuff. What really matters was that God showed up for me and gave me the desires of my heart. He pulled out of my pit of death and despair. He filled me with good things so that my youth was renewed like the eagles Ps. 103:5.
I encourage you to consume goodness BEFORE you find a deep, dark pit of despair or sickness, and choose to consume God's words and His love instead of this empty, fake world. Unplug from the matrix and reject this world's consumption culture. Grab on to the only ONE who truly loves you - God.
Our Consumption Culture
We live in a consumption culture and we consume all day (NIH). The act of buying, using, and consuming goods and services is so pervasive that it permeates nearly every aspect of our daily lives, even when we aren't actively thinking about it. It's a cycle of constant consumption.
What's consuming you? What goes in, must come out. Whatever you put in - whether it be food, information, or energy - it will eventually need to be released or expelled in some form from you. It’s the natural consequences of our actions. Where the "input" is a decision and a choice, and the "output" is the resulting effect. What we choose to put in ourselves is ultimately what we get out of ourselves. Do you put in garbage or do you put in goodness?
- Garbage in, garbage out (GIGO)
- You are what you eat (Twins Experiment)
- You reap what you sow (Gal. 6:7)
- Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil (Three Wise Monkeys)
- Like attracts like (Law of Attraction)
It's a lifestyle! We choose our "consumption" lifestyle. Everyday, in this hard world, God gives us the free will to choose what we want to consume - garbage or goodness. We get to choose to consume truth or lies, right or wrong, evil or good, everyday. You choose you!
What's your fruit?
We are known by our fruit. We can't hide our fruit. It's low hanging. A good tree produces good fruit because it consumed good soil, good nutrients, and good water. Therefore, it produces good fruit. But, bad fruit comes from a bad tree that is consuming poor nutrients, doesn't have a good water source and has poor soil. We are trees. We are known by the fruit of our lives as manifested by our WORDS.
Unlike an apple tree that can't choose where it gets planted, we have free will to choose. Consciously or unconsciously, YOU CHOOSE what you consume everyday. It's YOUR CHOICE to consume goodness. And, it's YOUR CHOICE to consume badness. You can choose to "make" your tree, your life and your words, good by what you consume - by what you feed on, by what you choose to take in everyday. Are you planting yourself in good soil or bad spaces? Are you in an orchard of positive friends or are you on a ship of fools? Are you choosing good nutrients or fast food? Do you need to change the orchard you are planted in? Choose you this day who you will serve Josh 24:15.
When we are surrounded by an orchard of people who engage in garbage behaviors, garbage can start to seem like the "normal" thing to do. When garbage seems "normal" it makes it even easier to choose garbage. The bad habits, negative attitudes, and fearful WORDS of a bad orchard of friends can rub off on you, leading to changes in your own behavior like substance abuse, dishonesty, bullying, disrespectful behavior, and speaking WORDS of death vs. WORDS of life. Remember, life and death are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit Prov 18:22.
How can you, while making and consuming bad things, speak or produce anything good? You can’t! And, you can't hide it. We will all know because your mouth will speak what you have filled your heart with, for out of an abundance of the heart your mouth will speak Matt. 12:34. You won't be able to fake it. A man consuming goodness brings good things out of the goodness he has consumed: good treasures, good words, good actions, good deeds.
Heal Yourself
Consuming bad and evil things brings out an overflow of what is evil – cursing, anger, resentments, complaining, blaming, sadness, excuses and even sickness. I remember I was so angry after my so-called friends rejected me and my then-boyfriend cheated on me then sued me that I was replaying my bitterness over and over all day in my mind. I was feeding on bitterness, anger and resentment and it gave me inertia and bad energy to fight empty battles. Hate fueled my actions and I became more hateful to myself and others, and my WORDS were all bitter and angry. Bitterness spurned me on to justify where I had been wronged instead of letting God vindicate me and fight my battles.
Remember, you are what you eat, you reap what you sow, and what goes in must come out. When you feed on garbage like hate, bitterness and unforgiveness, garbage will come out. Our WORDS tell on us. My words told on me. All I could spew was stories of injustice about my ex-boyfriend's cheating and lawsuits, or my fits of rage about my empty friends turning their backs. It was obvious I was feeding on garbage because only garbage and hate was coming out of me, coming out of my mouth, making my body physically sicker than it already was.
If you feel hate, anger, jealously, resentment, and bitterness, you will speak words of hate, anger and bitterness which breaks down your body, mind and heart. God tells us that by our words we will be justified, and by our words we will be condemned Matt. 12:33-37. What you consume eventually comes out for everyone to hear, and for God to see. Don't condemn yourself anymore. Stop making yourself sick. Forgive the people who were used to hurt you. Let go of the anger, bitterness and unforgiveness that poisons you. Trust that God will vindicate you. Let go, and start healing your heart and your body with good words and good thoughts.
Outward appearances are transformed by goodness. Living a lifestyle of consuming goodness and speaking goodness will restore your mind, body and spirit. Daily choices of consuming goodness is a lifestyle. Even if you don't FEEL GOOD right now or you are depressed, force yourself to start saying good words out loud. Speak out positive affirmations of gratefulness, calling what you want to see into creation - not what you see and feel now but what you want to see and feel. I was so sick I used to record myself reading Bible verses, confessing good things over myself, saying good things to myself like "I am grateful for the sun today" and "God wants good things for you, Heidi!" Then, I would replay the recordings over and over and over, until I believed them.
Listen to yourself! Do you believe the WORDS coming out of your mouth?? If not, stop saying them and stop talking until you can say something good. Let nothing negative come out of your mouth, then your body will start to heal. Force your mind out of hateful spirals and force it to align to goodness.
You are not your thoughts. You are a child of God. Have faith in goodness. Speak confessions of faith, not fear. Do not speak about weariness, your negative past, complaints of wrongs, or how sick you might be. Remember the Shunammite woman. She choose to confess "it is well" to her family and to the man of God even though her son was dead because she had faith that God would make things well again 2 Kings 4:8.
What's consuming you?
Making choices to consume goodness through these key bodily ports of entry will have a life changing, and even life saving, affect on you.
Your eyes are the windows to your soul (Psych). Looking at negative media reports and choosing horror movies induces fear and anxiety (PNAS). God wants us to read His words in the Bible, and when those words sink in, we start to see through spiritual eyes, understanding the world around us from our hearts - not our tormented minds. See with spiritual eyes.
Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear Mark 4:9. True hearing is more than just the passage of sound through your ears. Your brain interprets sound, then instills an emotional response. Negative noise causes stress, anxiety, irritability, difficulty concentrating, sleepless nights, and impacts brain function (WHO). It can even lead to obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, and even cancer (NIH). Turn off social media, tune out the news, unplug, and tune into God's wisdom and strength for life's challenges. The Hebrew word for "hear" is shama (שָׁמַע) - it means "to listen," "to obey," and "to understand." A wise man “hears" by listening and then acts. A fool might listen but fails to act on it Matt 7:24.
Savor organic, non-GMO foods in smaller portions 3 John 1:2.. Processed, fried or sugared foods damage collagen, decrease skin's elasticity, and increase inflammation & wrinkles 1 Cor. 10:31. If your lifestyle is surrounded by drinking alcohol, it will poorly impact your body, your mind, and your health NIH. Alcohol affects the metabolism of triglycerides and cholesterol, and affects skin's lipid composition creating skin aging and disease EJN. Also, nutrient gaps in your daily health routine can be filled with vitamins and supplements. Minerals like Colloidal Silver Water* can help with extra support and ours comes in both a spray bottle and a dropper bottle.
Smell is often taken for granted but it influences how we feel and look. Even retail and tourism use smell to manipulate consumer behavior (NIH). There is a strong connection between smell and emotion. Sight and sound travel to the thalamus brain region, whereas smell travels directly to the amygdala and hippocampus where we process emotion, and where learning and memories form. Breathing clean, fresh air enhances health, lowers stress, and slows aging. Scents like lavender calm stress, even helping hypertension and depression (NIH).
Restore Your Youth
Consume God's goodness, God's Words, God's Love and God's peace everyday to stay youthful, like Lady Lou (above). God promises that if you choose to LOVE Him with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might, your youth will be renewed like the eagle's Ps. 103:5. All God's promises are true. Just believe.
When you meditate and think on God's Words, His WORDS will be on your mind and in your heart. And, when His Words are in your heart, they come out of you in good words of gratefulness, love, and compassion. It's so much better than nasty, angry words. When you consume His goodness you can't help but speak good words. Remember, out of an abundance of your heart your mouth speaks to your children, your spouse, your boss, or even the person next to you in line. You can't help but to talk of the goodness of His Love and peace "when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up" Deut. 6:4.
Those who choose to trust in God, who consume God, who love God with all their hearts, they have amazing strength. They soar high on wings like eagles, they run and don't grow weary, they walk and do not faint Is. 40:31. It's rest from the torment of life's burdens. In His rest you have peace during the fires of life. You are happy when no one else can crack a smile. You have NO FEAR when everyone else is afraid. You see the perfect will of God's purposes for your life and you aren't worried. You have a peace that God is in control for the good, and you can let go. You know that good things are coming for you because you have marinated yourself in the good things God has for you today.
Consuming goodness is so simple yet can be so difficult for those who have settled into the anger, shame and bitterness of life. Unsettle yourself from these familiar torments, negative outlooks, and sour words. Find goodness. Find one thing to be grateful for because it's all around you. Find one thing to be happy for. Find one verse in the Bible and repeat it all day.
Goodness is not found in the news networks, traffic horns, drunk nights, busy days, complaining friends, traumatic memories, fast food, or money and power. It's in that breath of fresh air. It's in a child's laughter. It's in the peaceful sound of a babbling brook. It's in the smell of fresh baked cookies. It's in the birds singing. It's in the warm sun on your face. It's found in consuming God's Word, God's Creation, and hearing God's Voice speaking to us, if we just listen.
