I used to think rebuilding meant getting back what you lost.
I don't anymore.
When everything fell apart in 2022, I thought I wanted my old life back. My home. My dogs. My relationships. My plans. I wanted everything put back where it belonged.
But as I recovered, something unexpected happened.
I stopped wanting it back.
I didn't want to rebuild the same life. I wanted to build something better, something good.
Rebuilding Is Not Replacing
Some things are worth recovering. Some things are worth repairing. And some things belong to the life they came from. They belong in the past.
I began asking a different question: not, “How do I get everything back?” but, “What do I want to build from here?”
A Different Foundation
Faith. Family. Peace. Useful work. Real food. Beautiful things with a purpose. Fewer relationships, but real ones. Less noise. Less proving. Less consuming for the sake of consuming.
More creating. More gratitude. More goodness.
For a while I thought I was starting over.
It turns out I was just getting started.
I didn't want my old life back.
I wanted to build something good.
Good in. Good out.
