Consuming Goodness: YOUR SKIN

Consuming Goodness: YOUR SKIN

Live an ANTI-AGING lifestyle & restore your youth. Outward appearances are transformed with consuming goodness.

We are all covered in it, it’s skin.

It’s everywhere! It’s our largest organ. It’s our first line of defense against our natural environment - to combat the sun, wind, water, bugs, trees, dirt, dust, and everything else thrown at it. Some of us put a lot of work into our skin, and others put zero work into it. Some of us ignore it until motivated by an itch, and others primp and fuss over it all day. Yet, it cares not what motivates you. It will always work to its fullest to protect you, no matter how much help you do or don’t give it, even to its own demise. You can choose to do nothing to nourish it, nothing care for it, and nothing to pay it back for all its hard work. You can choose to abuse it and ignore it until it itches, burns, bleeds, cries, yells, kicks, and screams at you for attention. Yet, even under duress and abuse, it will continue protecting and covering you until the bitter end. We believe you should help the skin that helps you.

Is Sunscreen Safe?

A recent FDA study shows sunscreen ingredients can be absorbed into the bloodstream, questioning its safety.

The FDA study used four commercially available sunscreen products (lotion, aerosol spray, non-aerosol spray and pump spray). The study show that when sunscreen is applied to the skin, even a single application, all of the six, tested active ingredients and all of the formulations resulted in measurable levels of the sunscreens active ingredients in the bloodstream. Yuck!! Protective clothing and shade is preferred.

Organizations like the FDA and OECD have conducted studies on skin absorption, particularly regarding chemicals used in cosmetics and personal care products, to assess potential systemic effects from topical application. Sunscreen ingredients have been extensively studied for skin absorption, with some studies showing that certain active components can be absorbed into the bloodstream, prompting further research on their safety.

Absorbing Chemicals

The CDC says skin-absorbing chemicals like pesticides and solvents can cause diseases and disorders, or damage organs once in the bloodstream.

Dermal absorption happens when a chemical goes through the skin and travels into the body. Chemicals used in the workplace, or even during home improvement projects, could even damage organs if they penetrate the skin and enter the bloodstream. Examples of these chemicals include pesticides and organic solvents. Skin integrity, application site, chemical properties of the substance, concentration on the skin, exposure duration, and skin temperature all play a role in how much a substance is absorbed through the skin. Use gloves and care about the skin that's protecting you at all costs!

Natural v. Synthetic Ingredients

Natural ingredients are less likely to cause skin reactions compared to synthetics. Plant extracts and oils have healing and anti-inflammatory properties - nourishing skin with vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals. Natural ingredients can help retain the skin's natural oils and moisture. Organic products can also be free of synthetic fragrances, dyes, and parabens, which can cause skin issues and sensitivity. Organic products can also contain calming botanicals like aloe vera.

The term "natural" represents ingredients that are directly derived from nature and not created in a lab. A "synthetic" ingredient is anything synthetically derived, and neither found nor harvested directly from nature. A number of synthetic chemicals have been linked to cancer, hormone disruption, developmental disorders and other harmful health effects. For example, "parabens" are found in many personal care products as a preservative and are easily absorbed through the skin and are linked to a multitude of health risks, including cancer, endocrine disruption, reproductive toxicity, neurotoxicity and skin irritation (Mayo).

All of our products are carefully crafted with 100% natural ingredients and preservatives to nourish your skin, repair your skin, and combat the abuse we do to our skin all day.

Queens and Kings

Even Queens did 12-months of skin treatments with nature's oils and essences before seeing a King, Esther 2:12. Seeking to achieve beauty on the outside is biblical! Yep, that’s right, it’s in the Bible. When the kings in the Bible wanted wives, they sent for all the beautiful women to come and be interviewed for the position. How did they prep for this interview? Beauty treatments!

Before vying for their new position as Queen, the women would do 12 months of beauty treatments consisting of 6 months of myrrh oil and 6 months of perfumes and cosmetic treatment before they could even meet the King. One interviewee (Esther) was so eager for the role she chose to consume goodness in every way possible, even consuming a special food diet and having 7 attendants helping her to reduce her stress. Check out Esther in the Bible. Its ok if you want to take skin care to biblical proportions.

Rebels or Queens?

Are you someone with hundreds of skincare products plaguing your bathroom countertops and shelves? Un-clutter your countertops and your life to save time and money on your routine with our all-in-one body products for every body. Or, are you a rebel? Ignoring your body’s largest organ that protects you everyday, all day, everywhere, all the time? You can care for your skin for reasons other than the quest for "beauty." You can choose to care for it because it cares for you, and you want it to keep caring for you. I am talking to the guys and gals who rebelliously say: “I don’t wear SPF", “I’ve never put anything on my skin", “I don't care what I look like” (while they itch somewhere furiously). You know who you are. You can take care of your skin and not succumb to a ridiculous beauty regiment, primping and fussing for hours. You can still care for your skin while you jump out of the shower and keep your day running, or your day keeps running you, whatever you prefer. If you have one minute to spare every day for largest organ it would appreciate the attention.

How do you define “beauty”? Do you really need all those products? Are they duplicative? Do they provide real results or just fancy marketing ploys? What if you could replace some of the things cluttering your countertop with just one thing that does all the things? Maybe you could save some money? Maybe you could even save time? That is why our products were created for multi-use functions.

This is where your largest organ – just plugging along, doing its job – meets society’s cultural demand that it also must be “beautiful.” What is beautiful? Something beautiful to one person is not necessarily beautiful to someone else. As we all know for sure is that beauty is in the eye of beholder (a.k.a. subjectivity).

Hence, the subjectivity of what is beautiful can be confusing and provides a disconnect, leaving your skin stuck in the middle. It’s this disconnect between those who don’t care if others perceive them as “beautiful” and those who do can leave our skin the biggest loser. Those of us who refuse to succumb to society’s definitions of “beautiful,” those of us who think others should accept us for who we are regardless of how society defines us, the rebels, the contrarians, the ones who won’t participate in this subjectivity, congrats!! You shouldn’t participate in baseless, subjective society norms about what is and is not “beautiful.” You’re right – it can cause insecurity for no good reason. But how the world defines beauty should not be the line in the sand for your decision to care for your skin or not. Buck the system elsewhere, there is no nexus to connect the decision to be a rebel against society and caring about your skin, your largest organ that takes abuse all day.

Our products help you love yourself as yourself. For example, the Silver Serum is the ultimate all-in-one kitchen sink solution to repair and rejuvenate your skin and has all the stuff cluttering your countertops already in it. Get rid of your bottle of peptides, toss your Vitamin C, give away your potions and lotions costing you small fortunes. It has plumping peptides. It has brightening, non-irritating Vitamin C. It has non-clogging, non-greasy moisturizers. It has collagen building Hyaluronic Acid. It has antioxidants. It firms, tightens, repairs, soothes, smooths, rejuvenates, dries quick, attacks dark spots and helps hyperpigmentation. Its doesn’t get grease on your clothes or car, and gives you a tight, matte finish. It can replace several bottles on your shelf. And, we all know how many skincare products we throw in the trash every year, half used. The Silver Serum is a one-stop quick solution for the rebels too. It's quick and easy and can be used anywhere, anytime. There's no excuses to help your skin. Or, it’s a base canvas for the skin obsessed who want more, and everyone in the middle.

There is no question your skin is the first thing other people see. In fact, many people have no problem telling others if their skin looks placid or grey, or if your skin looks unhealthy. Many of us have heard our mothers, children, co-workers, or a stranger in the grocery line ask, even when you’re not sick: “You look pale" "You don’t have any color in your face" "You don't look well, are you ok?” This usually does not make us feel very good, no matter what camp you are in – skin rebel or skin obsessed.

On the other hand, we have also heard “wow, your skin is glowing" "what are you using on your skin?” "You have lovely skin." For those who have researched all the ingredients and bought every skin product possible to ensure to get the “WOW” factor, congrats!! You work hard to ensure your largest organ gets the attention its due, and then some. Keep up the great work!

It’s ok to be obsessed about your largest organ. It’s a big part of your first impression. It’s ok to project your self-love and self-care lifestyle through your glowing skin. It’s ok to care what other people think about you, and its also ok it you don't. Your skin is on the outside, your heart is on the inside; and your outside will always influence your inside. What you feel on the outside is what you will reflect on the inside, and vice versa. They work together. What you put in or on, it what you get out. Garbage in, garbage out. Good in, good out.

If you perceive your skin as ugly on the outside, this could influence your outside daily life. It could make you feel insecure in the bedroom with your partner, you may forego a boat ride in a bathing suit, or even stop wearing shorts to happy hour. Think about all the things or places you haven’t gone or experienced because of insecurity about what your skin looks like. Why miss out on life? When you’re comfortable in your skin on the outside, you will be comfortable with who you are all around.

Save Time and Money

Saving time and being efficient with your skin was one of the many reasons we  create multi-use products, like our Silver Serum. It takes one minute or less for Silver Serum to dry! When you get out of the shower, slather Silver Serum all over every skin-covered body part and by the time you go pick out your clothes for the day, it will be dry. Or just stand there for one minute and meditate, pray, think, pray for a friend, rub your temples, love yourself as yourself. Silver Serum dries non-greasy with a matte silky finish (not like lotion). It is your base layer, your extra “skin,” so you can put more skin products on over it and those layers will absorb through it. It is skin for your skin! Sure, stay a rebel, but care for your skin because it needs you to, not because society imputes fake beauty pressure on you.

Eventually, the rest of us (and your mirror) will know you abuse your skin – it shows on your face, your legs, your arms, your chest. You can’t hide abused skin. You’re covered in the evidence, and it is obvious. Your skin will not do you the favor to hide your signs of abuse - temporary or permanent. I’m sure you can think of some post-sunburn speckles, irritations and injuries turned into scars, and dark or light spots that appear after your guilty pleasures. Hey, life happens, and your skin has a front row seat.

Again, whether you are a skin rebel and savor the abuse, or you are next in line for the most fabulous skincare product, your largest organ needs attention. Don’t ignore it. Likewise, there is no need to idolize it. Meet somewhere in the balanced middle and it will thank you. Silver Serum can help with this struggle as a full body anti-aging moisturizer for any man, women, or child – not just Queens!
